This is entirely based on your personal preference. There are two options. You can choose to make a guild mark from scratch (most people prefer to use paint to do so), however it tends to look messy. You can also resize a picture from the internet to fit the guild mark format.
Moving on...

Making a guild mark in paint:
________________________
1. Open Paint. Click All Programs, Accessories, then click Paint [=
2. BEFORE you begin drawing your guild mark, resize it. You can do so by clicking Image on the top toolbar, then attributes. Got it so far? Next change the height and width to 16 x 16. Note: This is VERY important. If it is even a pixel off, the guild mark will not work.

It should now look like this:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/16x16lookslikethis.jpg
3. Now your image is too small to see, so unless you have microscopic eyes I suggest clicking View on the top toolbar, then Large Size.

4. Draw your guild mark =] Click Zoom to normal size, and if you're satisfied by it, save it.
Reverting to normal size:

5.You must save it under the Legend Of Ares Program File, which will vary depending on what folder you downloaded it into, but most of you will have it saved as C:\Program Files\Legend Of Ares. Click Save As, Find the Legend of Ares Program File, and Save it as guild mark.bmp [MAKE SURE THE FILE TYPE IS A 24 bit BMP OR IT WILL NOT WORK!] Also, you have to have the space between guild and mark, or it will not work either.
After saving it, enter the game, and open the guild window. Click the guild mark and color button, and change guild mark. Your creation should show up. Select it, then create an army of noobs and take over the world.

Resizing A Pre-Existing Image
_________________________
Some sites allow you to resize an image, the easiest way you can do this is by making a free account at https://www.photobucket.com
Upload the picture you would like to use, then click the "edit picture" button. Note: It may take a bit to load.
Edit Picture Button:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/EditInPhotobucket.jpg
Click the resize button, then make the height and width 16 x 16, and save it under the loa file as previously described ( guild mark.bmp , make SURE the file type is 24 bit bmp)
Resize Button:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/ResizeButton.jpg
Note:
In order to resize it to 16x16, you need to uncheck the keep proportions button, like so..
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/16x16.jpg
Click save in photobucket to record your changes, then save it onto your loa file.
If you do not want to use Photobucket, there is another and much more complicated method of doing so using microsoft word and paint.
Open Microsoft Word, and add the picture you wish to use. (Insert, Picture, From File) or copy and paste it.
Double click the image to bring up the format picture menu, and select the size tab. Deselect the lock aspect ratio button, and Change the Height and Width to .16 x .16.
Resize:

After Resizing It should look like this:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/AfterResizing.jpg
Push the Print Screen Button[Upper Right of Keyboard] to copy the page.
Then open Paint, and under the Edit heading, click paste. You should end up with something that looks like this:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/PrintScreen.jpg
Left click the area around the image to select it, try to keep it as small as you can.
Right Click, and press Copy.
See?
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/CopyIt.jpg
Then you must resize the paint area.. You can do so by clicking Image on the top toolbar, then attributes. Change the height and width to 16 x 16.
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/Resizeagain.jpg
Your image will be gone, but you copied it earlier, remember?
Click Paste.
Line the image up with the outside edge, then resize it for the last time to 16x16 bmp.
Line image up like so:
https://2img.net/h/i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/theykilledbarbie/LineItUp.jpg
Then Resize it one last time Wink
Fill in any white spaces, then save it as previously explained.
